India’s covid-19 declined on Tuesday with the country reporting 12,286 new coronavirus cases and 91 fatalities. With the new developments, the infection tally and death toll rose 1,11,24,527 and 1,57,248, respectively, the Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the positivity rate has also shown upward trend and is currently at 1.51 per cent.
As per the Ministry’s data, there are currently 1,68,358 active cases after 12,464 patients were discharged in a day.
Till now, 1,07,98,921 persons have been discharged. The recovery rate has reduced to 97.07 per cent.
Last week, around 90 per cent of the weekly average cases came from six states — Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Karnataka and Gujarat. Central teams have been rushed to these states as well.
The Ministry also informed that 7,59,283 samples were tested on Sunday. The cumulative tests carried out by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) so far stands at 21,76,18,057.
Till now, 1,48,54,136 doses of corona vaccine have been administered in the country since the mass inoculation drive began on January 16.
India began the second phase of covid-19 vaccination on Monday which saw many prominent leaders receiving the vaccine dose.

*Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan along with his wife Nutan Goel received their first Covid vaccine doses on Tuesday in the Delhi Heart and Lung Institute.
*Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Faruq Abdullah received the first vaccine dose on Tuesday. “Thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at SKIMS, Srinagar. Today my 85 year old father & my mother had their first COVID jab. My father has a number of health issues including being on immunosuppressants for a kidney transplant. If he can get the vaccine, you should as well,” he shared on Twitter.
*BCCI president Ravi Shashtri also administered the vaccine shots on Tuesday.
