India reported 74,442 fresh cases of coronavirus in last 24-hour taking total tally to 66,23,816. With new 908 deaths, the country’s death toll has now reached 1,02,685.
Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka are the top three states to report most number of coroanvirus cases in the country. Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal have also accounted for rising surge in country’s covid-19 tally.
Despite reporting most number of daily cases, India’s recovery has continued its top global position and now stands at 84.3 per cent.
Total case tally is now at 66,23,816 including 9,34,427 active cases, 55,86,704 cured/discharged/migrated cases & 1,02,685 deaths, Union Health Ministry reported.
India has exceeded 140 tests per day per million population as advised by the World Health Organisation by nearly 6 times. Several states/UTs have demonstrated better performance than the national average, Ministry of Heath & Family Welfare informed.

*West Bengal registered its highest single-day spike of 3,357 COVID-19 cases yesterday, taking the state’s tally past 2.7 lakh.

Meanwhile, global coronavirus cases have topped 35 million mark. The total number of cases stood at 35,075,423 and the fatalities rose to 1,036,095, according to the Johns Hopkins University.
