Covid: 43,393 fresh cases in last 24-hour

India has reported 43,393 new Covid cases in the last 24 hours, slightly lower than yesterday’s figures, the latest update from the Health Ministry said. In the same time, the country also reported 911 deaths linked to the viral disease.

The active cases have now come down below 5 lakh. The country has 4,58,727 active cases presently and has witnessed a total of 4,05,939 deaths so far.

Kerala leads the states in most number of infections over a 24-hour period. Amid a surge in Covid cases, a central team visiting Kerala has expressed satisfaction over the mitigation methods implemented in the state.

42,70,16,605 samples tested for Covid-19 up to 8th July 2021. Of these, 17,90,708 samples were tested yesterday: Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)

With 44,459 people being discharged in the last 24 hours, total number of people discharged stand at 2,98,88,284 till date, the Ministry added.

The Ministry said that a total of 36,89,91,222 people have been vaccinated so far in the country, including 40,23,173 who were administered vaccines in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the overall global Covid-19 caseload has topped 185.5 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 4 million and vaccinations soared to over 3.35 billion, according to the Johns Hopkins University.
