India has recorded 48,786 new cases, a slight increase from yesterday’s numbers, in the last 24-hour, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said. The country’s active cases count has dropped below 6 lakh and stands at 5,23,257. In the same time, the country also witnessed 1,005 deaths, the Ministry said.
With the addition of new infections, the cumulative tally has reached 30,411,634.The death toll due to coronavirus in India now stands at 3,99,459.
According to the Union Health Ministry, a total of 61,588 people have been discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the total discharge to 2,94,88,918 till date.
The Health Ministry said that a total of 33,57,16,019 people have been vaccinated so far in the country, including 27,60,345 who were administered vaccines in the last 24 hours.
A total of 41,20,21,494 samples have been tested up to June 29 for Covid-19. Of these 19,21,450 samples were tested on Wednesday, said Indian Council of Medical Research.

*Gujarat-based pharmaceutical company Zydus Cadila has applied to the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) seeking Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for ZyCoV-D – its Plasmid DNA vaccine against Covid-19.
*The Indian Medical Association has said that around 800 doctors have died during the second wave of the pandemic. A majority were from Bihar and Delhi, as per the IMA, which has maintained a state-wise registry of doctors who died of Covid-19.
*Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday chaired a meeting of the Union Council of Ministers to discuss issues related to the Covid management, vaccination drive and preparedness to deal with possible third wave.
