Maintaining a constant decline, India on Sunday reported 43,071 new cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally to 3,05,45,433. The death toll increased to 4,02,005 after 955 people succumbed to the disease, the Union health Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said. Sunday is the 16th consecutive day in the last two months when the death toll has been below the 2,000-mark.
India’s active cases also dropped further by 10,183 and it now stands at 485,350.
Thee active cases in the country has further dropped below the 5 lakh mark and currently stand at 4,85,350.
India on Friday crossed four lakh deaths due to Covid. Only United States and Brazil have reported more deaths than India due to the pandemic.
A total of 52,299 people have been discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the total discharge to 2,96,58,078 till date, the Ministry said.
A total of 35,12,21,306 people have been vaccinated so far in the country, including 63,87,849 who were administered vaccines in the last 24 hours.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, 41,82,54,953 samples have been tested up to July 3 for Covid-19. Of these 18,38,490 samples were tested on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the overall global Covid-19 caseload has topped 183.4 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 3.96 million, according to the Johns Hopkins University.
