Four cases of White Fungus reported in Patna- Who are at high risk?

As the central government has urged the states to mark ‘Black Fungus or Mucormycosis’ like an epidemic, an infectious called white fungus also been found in Patna, Bihar.

The new cases are from Patna in Bihar, and according to doctors, this disease is more infectious than Black Fungus.

A report states that it affects the lungs as well as other parts of the body including nails, skin, stomach, kidney, brain, private parts, and mouth.

Doctors stated that white fungus also infect lungs and till now four cases are registered but they all were not COVID positive.

The Chief of Microbiology at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), Dr. S N Singh, said the lungs of all four patients were found infected and it’s not that just like Black Fungus, White Fungus is also more dangerous for those who have weak immunity.

The senior doctor also warned the diabetes patients and those who are in touch with steroids for a long period of time are more at risk of getting the White Fungus.
