Health Tips: The ever-popular cashew nut, which adorns most Indian mithai, is everyone’s favourite in the dry fruit and nut repertory. This nut, which grows abundantly in India’s red soil regions, has a natural taste that perfectly matches our preferences. It can be eaten as is, used to make mithai, or used to decorate both savoury and sweet foods. While we all love this nut, few of us are aware of its inherent health benefits. Spend a few minutes learning about the nutritional profile and incredible health benefits of cashew nuts.
Heart Health
In general, because they are high in fats, nuts like walnuts, cashews, peanuts, almonds, pistachios, and pine nuts are healthful snacks to keep on hand. It is ideal to consume a variety of nuts or to try a new variety every day for your heart. Consuming nuts lowers blood lipid levels.
Control Blood Pressure
Cashews are high in magnesium and can help control blood pressure through diet. Additionally, magnesium is used to treat hypertension.
Bone Wellness
Cashew nuts are filled with copper, magnesium, phosphorus, and zinc, which are needed for bone development. Because they aid in the production of the enzymes required to create strong bones, foods high in manganese help the body maintain a healthy bone structure.
Diabetes Health
The healthful monounsaturated fats in peanuts, almonds, walnuts, and kaju (cashews) won’t cause your blood sugar levels to jump. They make a nutritious snack for diabetics, and it’s a good idea to travel with a few handfuls. Since they have a low Glycemic Index of 25, they won’t cause an insulin rise and will keep you in good health. Magnesium, which is abundant in cashew nuts, enhances insulin responsiveness by reducing insulin resistance. Very low magnesium levels will prevent the pancreas from producing enough insulin to regulate blood sugar. Thus, cashew nuts are beneficial for diabetics.
Eye Health
Cashews include lutein and zeaxanthin, which shield the eyes from damaging UV radiation and free radical damage. These anti-oxidant pigments are present in the eyes naturally, serve as a vital barrier against harmful light, and may lower the risk of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and cataract development.
