India reported 3,275 new Covid-19 cases and 55 deaths in the last 24 hours ending at 8 am on Wednesday, according to data released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Active cases presently stand at 19,719, the ministry said.
The data suggested that the active caseload rose to 19,719. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.77 per cent while the weekly figure was recorded at 0.78 per cent.
Delhi reported 1,365 new Covid-19 cases and 1,472 recoveries in the last 24 hours; no deaths reported in this period.
Mumbai on Thursday recorded 130 new Covid-19 cases, the highest daily rise since February, an official from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said. It took the tally of infections recorded in India’s financial capital so far to 10,60,317.
In another important development, Serum Institute of India’s CEO Adar Poonawalla on Wednesday night clarified via his Twitter handle that the Covid-19 vaccine Covovax is now available for everyone above the age of 12 years.
