India today recorded 975 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of coronavirus infections to 4,30,40,947. According to Union Health Ministry, the country also reported four Covid-related deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the total number fatalities to 5,21,747.
The number of active cases of COVID-19 currently stands at 11,366. The active cases account for 0.03 per cent of the total caseload, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate remained at 98.76 per cent.
796 recoveries in the last 24 hours increases the total recoveries to 4,25,07,834.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.32 per cent and the weekly positivity rate was 0.26 per cent, according to the ministry.
Maharashtra’s Thane District Reports 2 COVID-19 Cases In 24 Hours. With the addition of two coronavirus positive cases, the infection count in Thane district of Maharashtra rose to 7,08,875, an official said on Saturday.
West Bengal on Friday reported 17 new cases of COVID-19, which raised the tally to 20,17,765, the health department said in its bulletin. The toll remained unchanged at 21,200 with no fresh death reported, it added. As many as 40 people recovered from the disease since Thursday, taking the total number of recoveries to 19,96,216. The discharge rate stood at 98.93 per cent, the bulletin said. Bengal currently has 349 active cases.
Haryana has reported over 1,200 fresh Covid cases in over 14 days out of which over 1,000 infections were from Gurugram district, official data showed. The district has been witnessing a rise in Covid cases in the past few days.
Delhi has also been recording an uptick in daily Covid cases with the positivity rate going beyond two per cent. The Covid positivity rate in Haryana was 1.27 per cent on February 28, 0.41 per cent on March 31 and 2.72 per cent on April 14.
