A female medical student, who was India’s first confirmed case of Covid-19, has tested positive for the virus again. The woman who had returned last year from China’s Wuhan, the first epicentre of the disease, us a resident of Thrissur. She had “She is reinfected with Covid-19. Her RT-PCR is positive, antigen is negative. She is asymptomatic,” Thrissur DMO Dr K J Reena told PTI.
She went testing at the airport while she was onboard to Delhi for study purposes. She then returned her home and is currently doing fine.
The woman had tested positive for the virus on January 30, 2020 becoming the country’s first COVID-19 patient, days after she had returned home following semester holidays. She was discharged on February 20, 2020, after her test results came negative twice.
After her return from Wuhan, she has not gone back and has been continuing her classes online, from her home.
