What is Bird Flu?
The type A influenza virus is the cause of bird flu, also known as avian influenza. India is currently being affected by the H5N1 form of influenza. Usually, it travels from wild birds to domesticated birds. Although it can also infect humans, this virus is detrimental to some farm animals raised for poultry, such as chickens and ducks. When a person comes into contact with an infected bird, it can transfer to them. Experts claim that this virus sickens birds by attacking their respiratory systems or intestines. Sometimes birds also die under such circumstances. An individual who looks after birds runs the risk of contracting the disease if they come into contact with the excrement of a sick bird.
