Health Tips: The lungs are one of the most fragile and important organs of our body. The health of our lungs determines the quality of life we lead. If not taken proper care, the lungs can weaken showing early signs of Emphysema among other issues. There might be several things we do in our day-to-day life that may contribute to causing some serious lung problems later in life. Here are a few things to keep in mind to keep your lung health at its peak to lead a long and healthy life.
Smoking Kills
It is no surprise that smoking is one of the biggest reasons for various forms of lung disease including lung cancer. Over time, tobacco and smoke damage the tiny air sacs in the lungs, leading to critical health problems.
Air Pollution
Air pollution also amounts to the cause of certain lung issues and wheezing. Poor quality of air in our surroundings can lead to chemicals and other harmful toxins in the air entering the lungs, and damaging them further. Experts advise wearing a mask while stepping out into polluted air. They also suggest buying an air purifier for the house that cleans the air in your home.
Diet and Excercise
Engaging in regular exercise leads to the maintenance of good lung health. Engaging in simple cardio such as walking, running or jumping can lead to efficient functioning of the lungs. However, diet also plays a big role in this. Particular foods are beneficial when added to your diet, such as beetroot, tomatoes, berries, coffee and fish.
Water
Staying hydrated is a must. Drinking a lot of water can help with keeping mucus and other toxins in the lungs at bay while keeping the lining intact to do daily chores.
Stress
Another reason for lung health issues is stress. For someone who takes a lot of stress, this mental phenomenon’s symptoms can be physical, especially in their breathing patterns. Therefore, stress can be managed by doing breathing exercise that helps relax the mind and relieve stress.
