Health Tips: Why exercising outdoors amid rising pollution is harmful?
The air in the National Capital Region has become nearly unbreathable now. The toxic environment is so much evident with visibility decreasing exceptionally. People moving out of their houses for regular tasks are finding it challenging to breathe properly. The situation has become so severe that even politicians have started recognizing the harm now. Recently, UP CM – Yogi Adityanath expressed disappointment when his eyes started burning due to smog. You can only imagine what could be the situation for people who prefer working out in the open.
Exercising in itself imposes pressure on our lungs making us go one step further in our natural level of stamina. However, when we workout in polluted environments, our exerted lungs become easily exposed to the toxins in the air. Working out takes a good amount of time and that much prolonged exposure to toxic air can make your lungs susceptible to various lung diseases as well as cardiovascular diseases. Exposure to pollution can even pose a great challenge for our lungs to function properly, thereby making us prone to infections and decreasing our immunity.
What is the alternative for fitness lovers?
In such toxic conditions, experts advise to remain indoors as much as possible. So, even if you love working out in the open, it is high time now to compromise and take it indoors. You can either opt for a basic calisthenics workout or Yoga at home. Alternatively, you can even choose to hit the gym. However, make sure you have your anti-pollution mask on every time you head out of your home.
