International Yoga Day 2023: Jaggi Vasudev, more commonly known as Sadhguru, has been a vocal promoter of yoga as a way of life. Incorporating yoga into his personal routine, Sadhguru has often listed many benefits of yogic exercises. “The methods and technologies of how to experience that which is beyond the physical are what is known as the science of Yoga” – Sadhguru.
Sadhguru on the real essence of Yoga
Sadhguru says the word Yoga is not proportional to physical postures. In fact, this is a very distorted idea of what Yoga is, he says.”Yoga is not about bending and twisting your body or holding your breath. Yoga is a technology. If you learn to use it, it works- no matter where you come from or what you believe in or do not believe in,” the spiritual leader says.
Sadhguru on International Yoga Day
“The significance of the United Nations declaring an International Day of Yoga is that we can remove the misconceptions that people have about Yoga – that it does not belong to any particular culture, religion, or nation. It is the science of inner well-being. As there is science and technology for external well-being. So, the UN declaring this day clearly recognises that Yoga is a tool for inner well-being. Anyone who is interested in their well-being needs to turn inward. Or in other words, we have looked up in the search of well-being and divided humanity. We have looked out in search of well-being and destroyed the world. Looking inward is the only way out. It is the only way out.- that is the message for the International Day of Yoga,” says Sadhguru.
Free Yoga classes by Isha Yoga Center
As a lead to the International Day of Yoga Celebrations, Sadhguru’s Isha Yoga Center conducted a free yoga class on June 18 in at Tirukazhukundram Vedagiriswarar temple. In the wake of the International Day of Yoga celebrations, Isha Foundation is offering free online Yoga sessions throughout the month of June. Users can also download Sadhguru app for continuous Yoga support. The app offers its services in 12 languages.
