Sadhguru Tips: Meditation is extremely important for both mind and body. It is like a peaceful adventure which makes our mind stress free and the body completely relaxed. Meditation is a special time throughout the day when we forget about other worries and troubles, sit in a quiet environment, close our eyes and focus on our thoughts. By doing this you will feel inner peace. Just as the body needs rest, similarly the mind also gets tired of innumerable thoughts and overthinking, and through meditation, it gets peace and relaxation. For beginners who have never done meditation in their life, if they want to experience it, Sadhguru has shared his knowledge on how to meditate.
What does the word meditation mean?
According to Sadhguru, the word ‘meditation’ in the English language does not specify anything. If a person is sitting with closed eyes, it does not mean that he is meditating. He can close his eyes and think or can do ‘Japa’, ‘Tapa’, ‘Dharana’, ‘Dhyana’ and even sleep while sitting. In general, people consider that meditation means Dhyana. Sadhguru says “you cannot do meditation because it is a quality. You can initiate a process but you cannot conduct a quality, it is just a consequence.” The process which you are considering as meditation is life oriented. People have become very material oriented and have forgotten their inner self.
Becoming a meditator is the first step
Sadhguru says that you cannot meditate but you can become a meditator. Because meditation is a quality. If a person cultivates his body, mind, energy and emotion to a certain level of maturity, he naturally becomes meditative. Meditation is not an impairment that has to be done by sitting in just one place with closed eyes, but it is a special empowerment, by which you can do whatever is necessary in the world.
