Vastu Tips

Vastu Tips: Keeping pets around the house is a modern-day practice. In ancient times, people put animals only outdoors and it was not very common to keep pets indoors. Therefore, according to ancient traditions, keeping pets at home is frowned upon which shows the innate nature of human beings to tame animals. However, there are a few Vastu rules to be followed if you have a pet for maximum good luck.

Adoption

Vastu Shastra believes in the concept of Karma and will suggest adopting a pet instead of buying a pet. Therefore, it should be the human’s want to help the animal that should bring it to their house. Buying a pet is looked at as taming the animal which is considered inauspicious and can invoke negative energies in the house.

Birdcages

Vastu Shastra is against the concept of bird cages. The bird in a cage symbolises captivity and a lack of freedom which is considered inauspicious. Instead, placing an earthen pot with water on the balcony is suggested where birds can come to quench their thirst.

Dog bed

if you have a dog, its bed should be placed outside the front door where they can roam around and play freely. However, in a small house, dog beds should be set up on the northeast or northwest side. This will ensure that the pets stay healthy and happy.

Type of animal

According to Vasty, certain pets bring good energy to the house. These include dogs, parrots, turtles and fishes. Dogs, especially black dogs are considered auspicious because, in Mahabharata, Yudhishtir befriends a black dog too. Therefore, getting a black pet dog is considered good. If not possible, feeding random black dogs on the street is also bad.

Cow

Cows are considered holy according to Hindu tradition. Moreover, they provide milk to the family with cows as pets. It is mostly seen in farmlands and village houses. Therefore, the cowshed should always be in the east or northwest part of the house
