World Cancer Day 2024: Signs, Causes and Preventive Measures You Must Know About Cancer; Read

World Cancer Day 2024

World Cancer Day 2024: Millions of people die from cancer each year, making it one of the major and potentially fatal health issues that are spreading quickly throughout the world. According to the Global Burden of Disease, 95.6 lakh people died from cancer before their time in 2017. Cancer is the cause of one in six deaths worldwide.

Although cancer is no longer an incurable disease thanks to modern medical technology, the disease is still very difficult for the average person to treat. Held on February 4 of each year, World Cancer Day serves as a global awareness-raising and educational platform regarding the growing threat that cancer poses to people worldwide. Cancer can take many different forms, and people of all ages are susceptible to it. Early symptom detection and treatment can lower the chance of dying from cancer.

Types of cancer

The second most common cause of death globally is cancer. Cancer may arise from aberrant cell growth and unchecked division in any part of the body. Genetics, environment, altered lifestyle, and prolonged chemical exposure all raise the risk of cancer. Women are more likely than men to develop cervical and breast cancer, while men are more likely to develop lung, prostate, and colon cancer.

Symptoms

Cancer symptoms vary depending on the body part affected. Cancer is the primary cause of fatigue, inexplicable weight loss, skin abnormalities like skin discolouration or yellowing, difficulty swallowing, and unexplained bleeding issues. Get your body checked out as soon as you notice any unusual lumps.

Treatment and prevention

According to medical professionals, early detection of cancer improves the patient’s chances of both treatment and survival. There are numerous cancer treatments on the market. Depending on the condition, such as type and stage, cancer is treated with medication, therapy, or surgery. Medical professionals say that everyone should keep taking cancer prevention measures. Cancer can be avoided by maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle, giving up alcohol, and not smoking.
