Four people died as several tents were washed away after a cloudburst near the holy cave shrine of Amarnath in Jammu and Kashmir due to flash flood on Friday evening, ANI reported. NDRF and SDRF teams have been deployed for rescue operations. Rescue operations are underway by the NDRF, SDRF & other associated agencies, as per media reports. Water came from above the cave after heavy rains in the upper reaches. The rain has stopped for now – reports said.
According to initial reports, some casualties are feared in the Amarnath cave cloudburst. Rescue agencies are on the spot and Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel have been rushed to the affected areas along with other agencies.

“Some langars and tents have come under cloud burst/ flash floods at the holy cave, two deaths have been reported. Rescue operation by Police, NDRF, and SFs is in progress. The injured are being airlifted for further treatment. The situation is under control,” said IGP Kashmir, Vijay Kumar.
The authorities announced on Wednesday (July 6) that Amarnath Yatra will be resumed for the day with some improvement in the weather conditions along both routes.
The annual 43-day yatra commenced on June 30. The yatra is scheduled to end on August 11.
