Jharkhand Train Accident: Tragically, the Howrah-CSMT Express, which was headed for Mumbai, derailed early this morning in Jharkhand near Badabamboo, causing 20 injuries and taking two lives. About 80 km from Jamshedpur, the tragedy happened at 3:45 in the morning, sparking emergency rescue and relief activities.

Immediate Rescue Efforts

Rescue teams rushed to the scene as soon as the derailment was reported. “Two people were killed and 20 injured as 18 coaches of Howrah-Mumbai Mail derailed near Barabamboo. Rescue operations are on and an NDRF team is rushing to the spot,” said West Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Kuldeep Chaudhary, who is at the accident site.

Om Prakash Charan, a senior Railways official, stated that 16 passenger coaches, 1 power car, and 1 pantry car were among the 18 coaches that derailed. A adjacent freight train also derailed, though it’s not clear if those two events happened at the same time.

Medical Aid and Investigation

The injured passengers received first aid from the Railways’ medical team and were later taken to Chakradharpur for further treatment. The exact cause of the derailment is still being investigated. Officials have cancelled or diverted several trains on the route as a precautionary measure.
