In Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh, 27 Naxalites surrendered, five of whom had a cash reward of Rs one lakh on their heads. According to the police, the Naxalites surrendered before the police and CRPF officers at the Barsoor police station on Sunday. These include six female Naxalites. They were involved in the attacks on the police team, the IED blast and the Maoist posters and banners.
Superintendent of Police Abhishek Pallava said that during the Naxalite eradication campaign being run by the government, people active in the Naxalite organization of the district have surrendered for the purpose of leading a respectable life. He told that the campaign was coming back to Lone Varratu home in all the police stations, camps and panchayats here.
Under this, 27 Naxalites including five prizes and two warranties have surrendered to the Police Sub-Divisional Officer at Barsur police station in the district today, expressing their desire to live a good life by joining the mainstream leaving the ideology of the Naxalites.
Six women are also among those who surrendered at Barsur police station on Sunday. A woman had arrived with her two-month-old baby girl. He said that he was beaten up by the Naxalites and joined the organization. At the same time, they got married and gave birth to the baby girl two months ago. She does not want her daughter to live among the Naxalites.
