Three soldiers of the Indian Army have died after falling into a deep gorge in Machil sector of Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. A Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) is also among the dead. The Indian Army has given information about this accident on Wednesday. The army told that the three jawans had slipped and fell into a deep gorge.
Soldiers were on patrol near LoC
The army told that this incident happened when the soldiers were patrolling near the LoC. An Army official said the JCO and two other ranks were on a routine patrol in Machil sector when all three fell into the ditch.
The rescue team recovered the bodies of all three in the morning after facing adverse weather and rough terrain. Among those who lost their lives, Naib Subedar Purushottam Kumar (43) is a resident of Village Majua Utmi, Post Raika, Tehsil Bishnah, Jammu. He had joined the army in 1996.
He is survived by his wife and two children. Havildar Amrik Singh (39) was a resident of Village Mandwara, Post Marwari, Tehsil Ghanari, District Una, Himachal Pradesh. He had joined the army in 2001. He is survived by his wife and a son. Amit Sharma (23) had joined the army in 2019.
