Sudan: The Indian Embassy in Sudan stated that a man who was an Indian national working in Sudan and was wounded on Saturday by a stray bullet has passed away. “Deeply grieved to learn about the death of an Indian national in Khartoum. The Embassy is making all efforts to extend fullest assistance to the family. The situation in Khartoum remains one of great concern. We will continue to monitor developments,” stated EAM S Jaishankar.
There are numerous uncounted casualties
Sudan has been rocked by a power battle involving the army and a paramilitary group that has left 56 people dead and close to 600 injured. As different troops fought for control of the presidential palace, state TV, and army headquarters, residents in the capital city of Khartoum had to duck gunfire. In the western Darfur region and the northern town of Merowe, according to the Sudanese Doctors’ Union, there are numerous uncounted casualties, including military and RSF soldiers.

Heavy gunfire heard throughout the day
According to Reuters, the Sudanese military endangered attempts to transition to civilian administration by launching airstrikes on a paramilitary force’s base close to the capital in an effort to reclaim authority over the nation. Early on Saturday morning, fighting broke out. In the neighbourhoods in and around the capital, where the military and the RSF had gathered tens of thousands of men since the coup, heavy gunfire could be heard throughout the day.
General Burhan charged the RSF with breaking into Khartoum Airport
General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, the head of the army, charged the RSF with breaking into Khartoum Airport and setting some planes on fire. He added that his men control all critical buildings, including the military’s command centre and the Republican palace. According to the reports, he threatened to send more troops to Khartoum.
Indian citizens there have been urged to stay inside on Saturday afternoon
In the meantime, due to ongoing hostilities between army and paramilitary troops in the African nation of Sudan, Indian citizens there have been urged to stay inside on Saturday afternoon. The US, Russia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UN, the EU, and the African Union have all called for an immediate end to hostilities. After meeting on the phone, the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates asked that the framework agreement on the transition to democracy be reinstated, according to the Saudi state news agency.
