Personal data of about 6 lakh users in India has been stolen and sold in bot markets. This data includes information ranging from fingerprint to login password. This has been confirmed by NordVPN, one of the largest VPN service providers in the world.
According to the report, so far the data of about 50 lakh people around the world has been stolen and it is being sold through bot market.
NordVPN said in its study that the stolen data includes users’ logins, cookies, digital fingerprints, screenshots and other personal information. According to the report, the cost of data and personal information of a person has been fixed at Rs 490.
NordVPN has claimed in its study that about 5 million people worldwide have been affected in data theft, out of which most of the data of Indians has been stolen. Data of about 6,00,000 people has been stolen from India, which has been sold in bot markets.
Data stolen from Google-Facebook accounts
In its study, NordVPN analyzed three major bot markets, the Genesis Market, the Russian Market and 2-Easy. According to the study, the stolen login details belonged to Google, Microsoft and social media platform Facebook accounts. NordVPN tracked data from the past four years, ever since the bot markets were launched in 2018.
Cases of cyber attack are increasing in the country
Now the cases of cyber attack are continuously coming up in India. Recently there was a cyber attack on the server of Delhi AIIMS. After this there was a cyber attack on the website of the Indian Council of Medical Research Institute (ICMR). Not only this, recently hackers had also hacked the Twitter handle of Union Jal Shakti Ministry.
