At Darsi in the Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh, seven people, including a six-year-old kid, died when the bus they were riding in lost control after hitting a concrete wall and slid into the canal.
PK Praksam Malika Garg claimed that the bus was travelling from Podili to Kakinada for a wedding event.
Up to 29 additional passengers on the unfortunate bus have suffered injuries and are receiving medical care.
The police claim that a state-owned bus from the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) was rented out for a trip to a wedding celebration in Kakinada.
Around 12:30 a.m., the bus exited Podili, according to Garg, and the driver swerved it to the left when he saw an coming car coming from the opposite direction.
“Unfortunately, the bus collided with a concrete structure, leading to a loss of control. The bus then overturned and fell into the Nagarjuna Sagar canal, breaching the bridge railing. Seven out of the 47 passengers aboard the bus lost their lives,” the Prakasam SP said.
Abdul Flagiz (65), Mulla Jani Begum (65), Abdul Hani (60), Mulla Noorjahan (58), Sheikh Rameez (48), Sheikh Sabina (35), and Sheikh Hina (6) have been named as the deceased in the Andhra Pradesh bus tragedy.
