Aam Aadmi Party: The National Commission of Women’s Delhi office detained the Gujarat state director of the Aam Aadmi Party this afternoon due to a contentious video in which he is purportedly heard using disparaging language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Gopal Italia had responded to summons in the case by showing himself in the Commission’s office earlier in the day. Minutes after he allegedly claimed NCW chief Rekha Sharma threatened to put him in jail, he was carried away in a police car.
Rekha Sharma’s accusation:
Nearly an hour prior to Mr. Italia’s accusation, Ms. Sharma had claimed that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) members had caused a disturbance outside of her workplace. Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, criticized the BJP for pursuing Mr. Italia as a result, setting off yet another flashpoint between the two parties.
Manish Sisodia, the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, also criticised the BJP and claimed that Mr. Italia was jailed because he belonged to a party that understands how to construct schools. The top AAP leader stated, “They don’t know how to educate people and improve schools”.
About the case:
The lawsuit relates to a contentious video that purports to be from 2019, in which Mr. Italia is purportedly heard calling PM Modi a “neech aadmi” (lowly person) and other derogatory remarks. Due to his “gender-based” and “misogynistic” remarks, the Commission had asked him to appear in person today.
“His response was prepared, but he denied receiving a summons. He also denied being in the video, but he acknowledged tweeting in his response. He asserted that he wasn’t in the video “said Women Panel Chief.

She claimed on Twitter earlier in the day that AAP employees were raising a fuss outside her workplace. She also uploaded a picture of a group of people holding banners while tagging the Prime Minister’s Office and other police accounts.
A little over an hour later, Mr. Italia tweeted that the head of the Commission had threatened to put him in jail and even phoned the police.
“The NCW chief has threatened to jail me. What else can the Modi administration provide for the Patel neighbourhood? BJP despises the Patidar ethnic group. I am a Sardar (Vallabhbhai) Patel ancestor. I don’t fear your jails or prisons. Jail me, please. The cops have even been contacted. I feel intimidated “In a tweet, he stated.
Retweeting his message, Mr. Kejriwal questioned, “Why is the entire BJP after Gopal Italia?”
