Delhi Liquor Policy Case: Sanjay Singh, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), was granted bail by the Supreme Court on Tuesday in the Delhi liquor policy case. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) declared that his custody was no longer required, which led to this conclusion.
Conditions Set by Trial Court
Throughout the proceedings, Sanjay Singh will be released on bail, subject to conditions set by the Trial Court. The Supreme Court stated that the given concession ought not to be used as a model for future cases. The chief justice also upheld the AAP leader’s right to carry on with his political activity. Furthermore, the apex court clarified that it has refrained from making any comments on the merits of the case.
Sanjay Singh Granted Bail in Money Laundering Case
In the money laundering case linked to the now-cancelled liquor programme, Sanjay Singh is the first senior AAP leader to be granted regular bail. Sanjay Singh had already asked the Delhi High Court for release, claiming he had no involvement in the primary offence. But the judge turned down his plea. His involvement in actions linked to the proceeds of the Delhi liquor scam during the 2021–2022 policy period, according to the Enforcement Directorate (ED), is why they are opposing his release.
Singh allegedly accepted bribes from the liquor policy “scam,” according to the ED. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a formal complaint (FIR) that gave rise to the ED’s investigation. It claimed that the Delhi Excise Policy 2021–22 had been modified improperly and that licence holders had received excessive benefits.
