Arvind Kejriwal: AAP MP Sanjay Singh said on Saturday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central government are ordering torture of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal inside the Tihar jail. He claimed that Sunita Kejriwal, Kejriwal’s wife, had been denied access to him by the jail authorities.
Sanjay Singh’s Accusations Against Government
“Inside the jail, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is being tortured at the behest of the Government of India and PM Modi. Action is being taken to break his morale. As per the rule and as mentioned in the jail manual, the jail administration has been granted the right to let the people in jail meet the visitors face-to-face. In the case of Arvind Kejriwal, his wife is not allowed to meet him face-to-face,” he said.
Upholding Democracy
“Today, the fight is to save democracy and the Constitution. I would request PM Modi and home minister Amit Shah not to take away the rights of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, which are guaranteed constitutionally, democratically, legally and under the prison rules. Don’t try to be a dictator,” he added.
Judicial Custody at Tihar Jail
Arvind Kejriwal is being held under judicial custody at Tihar Jail at the moment. In relation to the Delhi liquor policy case, he was taken into custody by the Enforcement Directorate earlier this month.
Sunita Kejriwal was informed by the jail administration, according to Sanjay Singh, that she could only see him via a window. He asserted that Arvind Kejriwal was being humiliated by it.
Denied Face-to-Face Meeting
“When the wife of Arvind Kejriwal applied to meet him, she was told that you cannot meet him face-to-face but through a window. Why such inhuman behaviour… This inhuman act has been done just to humiliate and discourage the CM. I am saying with full responsibility that even the dreaded criminals are allowed to meet in the barrack, but a three-time CM of Delhi is allowed to meet his wife through a window having a glass in between,” he added.
Detention and Bail in Delhi Excise Policy Case
Earlier this month, Sanjay Singh, who had been detained since October of last year in relation to the Delhi excise policy case, was released on bail. He said earlier this week that Tihar authorities had threatened to obstruct his family’s travel because he had sent a message to AAP MLAs via his attorneys.
on moral reasons, the BJP has called on Arvind Kejriwal to step down from his position as chief minister of Delhi. The AAP claims that since he hasn’t been found guilty in any instance, he would carry on working for Delhi from behind bars.
