Afghanistan: On a rescue flight that arrived in India on Sunday, members of the Sikh minority who are fleeing the Taliban’s rule in Afghanistan touched down. When they arrived, one of them was relieved to have left the impoverished country after the Taliban overthrew Ashraf Ghani’s government last year and seized power.
In an effort to help the oppressed minorities in the Taliban-run nation, fifty-five Afghan Sikhs arrived aboard a special flight that touched down at Delhi Airport on Sunday. According to ANI, the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandak Committee, Amritsar, coordinated the trip to transport these Afghan minority in conjunction with the Indian World Forum and the Center.

Refugees recall taliban horror
Baljeet Singh in an interview talked about the situation in the country. According to him, the Taliban had imprisoned him for four months. “The situation in Afghanistan is not good. Four months were spent in jail for me. The Taliban, who had deceived us, cut our hair while we were imprisoned. I am grateful and content to be back in India,” he said.
“We would like to thank the Indian authorities for helping us get urgent visas and arranging our trip to India. Many of us still have family in Afghanistan, and about 30-35 individuals are still stranded there, according to Sukhi Singh Khalsa, who was saved during the trip.

What had happened?
About 50 people were killed in an attack on the Karte Parwan Gurdwara by the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) on June 18 in Kabul. 15 to 20 militants broke into a Gurdwara in Kabul’s Kart-e-Parwan District in October of last year and bound the guards.
