RapidX Rail: Up to eight Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) networks have been planned by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) in an effort to improve connectivity throughout the Delhi NCR (National Capital Region). Three times faster than metro trains, the RRTS will have semi-high speed trains. These trains will operate at a speed of about 160 km/h, with a maximum speed of 180 km/h. Phase 1 has given priority to three of the eight planned routes: the Delhi-Panipat, Delhi-Gurugram-SNB-Alwar, and Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridors.
Transforming Delhi’s Commute
Under the first phase of the RRTS scheme, three of the eight planned corridors—the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Corridor, the Delhi-Gurugram-SNB-Alwar Corridor, and the Delhi-Panipat Corridor—have been given priority. In addition, the corridors that connect Delhi to Shahdara-Baraut, Delhi-Khujra, Ghaziabad-Hapur, Delhi-Faridabad-Palwal, and Delhi-Bahadurgarh-Rohtak are included.
PM Modi to Inaugurate India’s First Rapid Rail
Referring to the nation’s first rapid rail, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to launch the nation’s first regional rapid transit system today. The first section of the 17 kilometre long train service connecting Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut is finished. It is the first high-frequency, high-speed transit system in the nation. Starting this Friday, October 20, the nation’s first regional rapid transit system will run from Sahibabad in Ghaziabad to the Dohai depot.
