Agniveer Recruitment: A top Army official said on Thursday that the test format and syllabus for the online common entrance examination (CEE), the first round of screening in the recruiting process for agniveer, have not changed.
In a media interactionheld at the South Block in this city, Lt Gen N S Sarna, Director General of Recruiting, Indian Army, stated that the decision to use an online examination format was influenced by a number of factors, including the fact that the younger generation is now very “technologically aware” and that mobile phone use is widespread and has reached far into the villages, making new technology accessible to people.
Those who want to enter the army will now have to first appear for an online common entrance examination (CEE), followed by physical fitness and medical testing, according to a recent announcement from the Army.
Candidates for Agniveers and other positions in the past had to go through a physical fitness test, then a series of medical exams, with the CEE appearance being the final step.
Army need physically fit and technologically informed youth
According to Lt Gen Sarna, the Army needs to recruit “youths who are both technologically informed and physically fit,” which is why the Army is using the online CEE as the “first screening process.” “Candidates earlier had to stand in long queues for the screening process, and even during rallies a large number of them had to take part. Now, the change in the recruitment process will help potential candidates, and the Army will be able to manage it better with easing of the administrative process,” he said.
The process will become “easy, simple and more streamlined”, Lt Gen Sarna said.
The Army has issued notifications about changes to the application process for recruits, among other things. The “Join Indian Army” website has the registration notifications posted.
Army changed registration process of JCO
The Defence Ministry declared on February 16 that the army had changed the registration process for “junior commissioned officers/other ranks/Aginveers.”
According to the statement, online registrations for applications are now open from February 16 to March 15. Candidates can apply based on their age, educational background, physical requirements, and other qualification requirements.
