Maharashtra News: 13 people killed after a landslide in Maharashtra’s Raigad district. The NDRF teams have rushed to the spot and around 22 people are still believed to be trapped in the debris. Over 20 people have been admitted in the hospital in Navi Mumbai. The city has been witnessing continuous rains for the last 24 hours. Over 12 bodies have been recovered from the debris.
Around 75 people have been rescued so far, many families still trapped
The NDRF teams have launched search opeartions and around 75 people have been rescued so far. The NDRF teams are struggling in the rescue operations since the incident happened in the remote area, the district administration is also trying to help the people in the rescue operations. The NDRF spokesperson said there are around 15-20 families still trapped in the debris. Four teams have been deployed to conduct the rescue operations.
Maharashtra CM announces compensation for the kin of the deceased
The debris in some areas is around 15-20 feet deep. The rescue teams are unable to bring heavy machinery to use in the search operations. Maharashtra Chief Minister visited the spot early morning to take a stock of the situation. The CM has also announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the kin of the deceased and assured all possible help.
