Air Force Air Show: Chennai Gears Up for Spectacular Indian Air Force Air Show Ahead of 92nd Air Force Day

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will be the chief guests at the event, with Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh and other top officials also in attendance.

Air Force Air Show: Chennai is set to witness a grand spectacle as the Indian Air Force (IAF) organizes an air show at Marina Beach on October 8, 2024, ahead of the 92nd Air Force Day. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will be the chief guests at the event, with Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh and other top officials also in attendance.

Key Highlights of the Chennai Airshow 2024:

  1. Dignitaries Attending: CM M.K. Stalin, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh will be present along with other prominent officials.
  2. Public Viewing: The main dais will be set up in front of Vivekananda House, but the entire stretch of Marina Beach will be open to the public to enjoy the aerial performances.
  3. Aircraft Display: The show will feature a range of aircraft including the indigenous Tejas, Sukhoi 30, Rafale, Mig-29, IL-78, and heritage aircraft like the Dakota and Harvard.
  4. Airshow Lineup: 72 aircraft from various IAF stations including Sulur, Thanjavur, Arakkonam, and Bengaluru will participate. Performances will include aerobatics by teams such as Surya Kiran and Sarang, with helicopters and transport aircraft also part of the event.
  5. Record-Breaking Attendance: The IAF expects an audience of around 15 lakh attendees and aims to set a Limca Book of Record entry for this year’s event.
  6. Rehearsals and Preparations: Three rehearsals have already taken place from October 1 to October 4, involving both vintage and modern aircraft.
  7. Traffic Management: The Greater Chennai Traffic Police has announced traffic diversions and has advised attendees to use metro and MRTS services for smoother commutes.

With this airshow, Chennai joins the list of cities like Prayagraj and Chandigarh, which hosted previous IAF airshows. This year’s event is expected to be a grand celebration of the strength and heritage of the Indian Air Force.
