India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval is on a US tour. This US tour of NSA Doval is considered very important. His visit is being said to give a new dimension to the strategic and diplomatic relations between America and India. Doval appeared with Indian Ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu on Monday, the first day of his visit. After this he attended the meeting of ‘Initiative for Critical and Emerging Technologies’ (ICET) in Washington DC.
This first meeting of ICET
According to news agency ANI, he will attend the first formal talks of ICET. It is being told that he will discuss ISAT with his American counterpart Jake Sullivan at the White House on Tuesday. Experts believe that after the civil nuclear agreement, this dialogue can prove to be a ‘major milestone’ in the relations between India and America.
The officials of both the countries have maintained silence about the talks to be held under the ICET. It is understood that information about the things that will be discussed in the meeting will be given in the White House on January 31.
ICET was heard for the first time in Tokyo
The first discussion about ICET took place in Tokyo in May 2022. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden met in Tokyo. It was mentioned for the first time in the joint statement issued after the meeting of the two leaders. A large delegation has reached America with Doval. The delegation includes Secretary level officers and personalities from the corporate world.
Senior officers included in the delegationIndian Space Research Organization (ISRO) Chairman S Somnath, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Prime Minister Ajay Kumar Sood, Scientific Adviser to Defense Minister G Satheesh Reddy, Secretary to the Department of Telecom K Rajaram and Defense Secretary are among the five secretary-level officers accompanying the NSA to the US. Research and Development Organization(DRDO) Director General Sameer V Kamat.Under ICET, the two countries have identified six areas of cooperation.
Cooperation between the two countries will be based on the principle of co-development and co-production, which is gradually being implemented by the Quad (strategic grouping of the US, India, Australia, Japan), then NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) and then Europe and the rest of the world.
