Ajit Pawar: Nationalist Congress Party leader Ajit Pawar has said that his decision to join the alliance government in Maharashtra is aimed at assisting Prime Minister’s Modi effort to take the country forwards. The NCP leader said in a press conference “The Prime Minister is taking India forward. He is also popular in other countries. Everyone appreciates his leadership. We will fight the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections with the BJP and that is why we have taken this decision.”
After swearing in as Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said that most NCP MLAs agree with his decision and they will continue working for the progress of Maharashtra. He also asserted that his camp represents the real NCP with support of 40 MLAs.
The “real NCP”
Meanwhile NCP leader Sharad Pawar has stated that things will become clearer within the coming days. After the swearing in Sharad Pawar launched an attack on PM Modi “I am happy that PM Modi has absolved some NCP colleagues of corruption charges as they are now inducted as ministers in the government.” Ajit Pawar claims to represent the ‘real NCP’ and has made a resolve to fight for party’s name and symbol.

Earlier a senior NCP leader had said that Sharad Pawar is not supporting Ajit Pawar’s decision in any form.
Ajit Pawar also attacked launched attack on opposition parties for “having no interest in taking the country forward”. There were reports of Ajit being upset about Sharad Pawar’s decision to share the stage with leaders of opposition parties at the meeting in Patna.
“The Triple engine Government”
During a press conference Ajit Pawar said “Maharashtra, getting most central funds for the state and satisfaction of the people of the state were the reasons behind the decision.”
He further added “I have not seen a single leader from the opposition who is fighting for the cause of the country. In fact, since 1984 no leader singlehandedly led the country. But PM Modi has been doing it for the last nine years. He is popular abroad. We want to join his development,”
Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis were present during at swearing in ceremony of NCP MLAs. Shinde voiced his support Pawar’s decsion to join the allianace by and said “Now we have 1 Chief Minister and 2 Deputy Chief Ministers. The double-engine government has now become triple engine. For the development of Maharashtra, I welcome Ajit Pawar and his leaders. Ajit Pawar’s experience will help strengthen Maharashtra.”
Defending his move to make switch from leader of opposition to Deputy CM Ajit Pawar said “If we can go with Shiv Sena, we can go with the BJP. It is for the state’s development.”
