All you need to know about Noida twin towers demolition on August 28

The famous Supertech’s twin towers in Noida are set to be razed in dust on August 28. It will take around 3,700 kgs of explosives to make the mission work at around 2:30 PM on Sunday.

A Mumbai-based Edifice Engineering will carry out the demolition of the Supertech Twin towers.

“We have set 3,700 kg explosives,” said Mayur Mehta, project engineer for Edifice Engineering, the company engaged by Supertech and Noida authorities for the demolition.

“There are 20,000 connections that will all be combined on the day of the demolition,” he added.

The eye-popping event will last for just about 15 seconds. “It will take nine to 10 seconds for all the explosives to blast in a series making a loud noise,” Utkarsh Mehta, partner of demolition firm Edifice Engineering, was quoted by PTI as saying.

“After the blasts, the structures won’t come down all at once and would take four to five seconds to come down completely,” he said, adding that the time for dust dissipation is estimated to be 10 minutes.

Taller than Delhi’s Qutub Minar, these towers will become India’s highest structures ever to be demolished.

According to project details, the Apex tower has 11 primary blast floors — where all columns on the floor will have explosives fixed and blasted — and seven secondary floors — where 60 per cent of the columns will be blasted. Ceyane has one less primary blast floor.
