Amid the ongoing protests and a call for Bharat Bandh in several states, security has been heightened across the country. In Bihar, West Bengal, and Kerala, police were deployed at key locations to prevent any untoward incidents.
In Jharkhand, schools were ordered to remain shut and the ongoing examinations of class 9 and 11 have been postponed. Meanwhile, prohibitory orders under Section 144 have been imposed in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida, prohibiting large gatherings.
Public transport, including school buses, plying on the roads; Government offices remain open. Security personnel deployed in wake of the bandh call.
Security arrangements have been beefed up in many places in West Bengal after the announcement of Bharat Bandh against Agneepath scheme today. Troops are stationed at Howrah Station, Howrah Bridge, Santragachi Junction, Shalimar Railway Station and other places. DCP North Anupam Singh said, ‘Police force has been deployed at many places’

Security has been beefed up on all the borders of Delhi.There will be a protest today at Jantar Mantar regarding the scheme of Agnipath by Centre. According to reports, instructions have been given for tight security in New Delhi area.
Meanwhile, the Sarhaul border at Delhi-Gurugram expressway witnessed heavy traffic jam on Monday as Delhi Police began checking of vehicles in wake of Bharat Bandh against the ‘Agnipath’ scheme.
Opposition parties including Congress and Aam Aadmi Party will be staging protests against the scheme in Delhi today. Protests had earlier erupted in several states after the announcement of the scheme.
350 trains have been cancelled in Bihar which saw violent protests over the new scheme. The Bihar government has also increased security at party offices considered vulnerable. As of now, internet services remain shut in 20 districts.
The Union Cabinet on June 14 approved a recruitment scheme for Indian youth to serve in the three services of the Armed Forces called Agnipath and the youth selected under this scheme will be known as Agniveers. Notably, Agnipath is a pan India merit-based recruitment scheme for enrolling soldiers, airmen and sailors. The scheme provides an opportunity for the youth to serve in the regular cadre of the armed forces. All those recruited under the Agnipath Scheme will be called ‘Agniveers’. Agniveers will be enrolled for a service duration of 4 years including the training period. After four years, only 25 per cent of the Agniveers will be retained or re-enlisted in the regular cadre based on merit, willingness and medical fitness.
