The issue of the encounter between the soldiers of India and China on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Tawang, Arunachal has now become a matter of concern at the international level. Now the United Nations has also given its opinion on this issue. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has spoken of reducing tension on the India-China border.
UN chief’s spokesperson Stephen Dujarric, when asked about the reports of confrontation between India and China, said, “We have received some reports in the media. We will ask both the countries to reduce the tension. It must be sure that tension does not increase in the area.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh made a statement on this issue in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha after the news of the skirmish between the soldiers of India and China came in the media. He had said, “The Indian Army bravely stopped the PLA from encroaching on our territory and forced it to withdraw to its posts. Some soldiers from both sides were injured in the clash.” The Defense Minister said that on December 9, the Indian Army foiled an attempt by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China to unilaterally change the status quo in Arunachal Pradesh’s Yangtse region. Rajnath had told that no jawan lost his life in the encounter and no one was seriously injured.
“At present the situation on the border with India is stable”
On the other hand, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said in a press conference in Beijing that the two sides have maintained smooth communication on border-related issues through diplomatic and military channels. He had said that at present the situation on the border with India is stable. Significantly, this was the first major clash between the soldiers of the two countries after the bloody clash in the Galvan Valley in June 2020.
