A flash flood triggered by a cloudburst near the holy cave shrine of Amarnath in Jammu and Kashmir, killing 16 and leaving at least 40 others injured. Currently, rescue and relief operations led by the Indian Army are underway and search for the missing is on.
As per the official reports, 30-35 people are missing while five have been rescued. Gushing waters rolling down the mountainside due to the incessant rain damaged 25 tents and three community kitchens where pilgrims are served food, officials said.
Quoting an official, The Telegraph reported that the Yatra was suspended for now, and a decision on the resumption of it will be taken after the rescue effort was complete. Furthermore, another official stated that approximately 30 to 35 people were missing due to the current situation in Amarnath as well.

Meanwhile, six pilgrims were evacuated by Army’s helicopters on Saturday as rescue operations continued through the night near the holy cave shrine of Amarnath after a flash flood triggered by a cloudburst swept away scores of people, killing at least 13.
At least 15,000 pilgrims, who were stranded near the Amarnath holy cave in Jammu and Kashmir due to a flash flood triggered by a cloudburst, have been shifted to the lower base camp of Panjtarni.

An integrated command centre has been put in place under the charge of Divisional Commissioner (Kashmir) besides establishing helpline numbers in Anantnag in south Kashmir, Srinagar and Delhi to help the families of those who might have been affected.
