New Delhi: Hemant Soren, the chief minister of Jharkhand, was spotted on Saturday riding a boat close to the Latratu dam in Khunti. He and the MLAs from the ruling camp had travelled there in advance of an impending political crisis in the state due to rumours that the Election Commission of India had recommended the CM be stripped of his legislative powers in a mining lease dispute.
In every image that has been made available to the media over the past few hours, the CM has so far been shown in a laid-back mood. Images from the resort showed him grinning and chatting with his MLAs in the balcony while on the boat with a number of MLAs, many of whom were female legislators.
The MLAs all appeared to be in a good mood. In the pictures, Soren also displayed the victory sign, the thumbs up.
The CM who might soon lose his MLA post appeared to be sitting on a chair and taking in the scenery in one of the resort photos.

A minister told news agency ANI that all the MLAs are together, suggesting a camaraderie ahead of the expected crisis in the state government. He also said that several things were in motion as he spoke of their plans of going to “other places”.
“All ministers & MLAs are together. We’ll go to other places too, don’t know where we will go next. Several things are in motion right now,” minister Satyanand Bhokta was quoted as saying by ANI.
