Amit Shah: A high-level conference to evaluate the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and the arrangements for the impending Amarnath Yatra was conducted by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday. Amit Shah Convenes High-Level Meeting on J&K Security

To discuss the situation in J&K, Amit Shah met at a high level with senior Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) authorities on Friday in the nation’s capital. He then set a second in-depth meeting for June 16 to continue working on the problem. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the state of law and order in the union territory in the aftermath of recent terrorist incidents in Jammu and Kashmir.

The home minister also gave an order for a second in-depth meeting to be held at North Block on June 16. The meeting would involve the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, the National Security Advisor, the Union Home Secretary, and top officers from the Army, police, administration of Jammu and Kashmir, and the MHA, according to Home Ministry officials quoted by ANI.

Focus on Protecting J&K Residents and Securing Amarnath Yatra

Amit Shah was briefed by officials regarding the state of security and their preparedness to deal with terrorist strikes in Jammu and Kashmir, according to ANI. Terrorist assaults have occurred in Reasi, Kathua, and Doda since June 9. Nine pilgrims have died, one CRPF jawan has been injured, and at least seven security personnel and a civilian have been injured. Protecting J&K residents, especially those on the Amarnath Yatra, and maintaining law and order in the state are the main goals of the increased security measures.

Following a string of terrorist attacks, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over a high-level conference on Thursday to address the security situation in the area. Ajit Doval, the national security advisor, attended the conference along with other high-ranking officials.

PM Modi was given a thorough briefing on the state of the local counterterrorism measures during the meeting. He was made aware of the strategies and initiatives being implemented to counter terrorist threats and maintain security in the area. PM Modi also discussed security force deployment and ongoing counterterrorism measures with Amit Shah, the home minister. In order to evaluate the situation and get updates on the actions done by the local government, he also had a conversation with J-K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
