AMU student assaults another student with cricket bat

Chandauli resident student Shobhit, accused of a clash between two groups of engineering students while playing cricket at Nadeem Tareen Hall of Aligarh Muslim University, was sent to jail on Thursday. Here, the condition of the injured student remains stable. He gets admitted in ICU. The protest, which started on Wednesday night demanding reinstatement of accused Shobhit, ended at 5 am on Thursday. Now a decision on his restitution will be taken at the level of the Disciplinary Committee in three days.

Controversy started over non-acceptance of fours

Injured student Sajid, a resident of Kashmir, told the police late on Wednesday night that all the students of his class were playing cricket. He himself was bowling while Shobhit, a student from Chandauli, was batting. During this, Shobhit hit a shot on his ball and the ball reached the boundary. Shobhit tells him to be a chauka.

But Sajid denied it. In this dispute there was tension between the two. In the quarrel, Shobhit hit Sajid on the head with a bat, injuring him. Due to serious head injury, he was admitted to the Medical College. Meanwhile, Shobhit fled from the spot. A case has been registered on Sajid’s friend Anayat’s Tahrir under sections like assault, profanity.

In protest against this incident, all the Kashmiri students of AMU gathered on Wednesday night itself and sat on a dharna by closing the Century Gate of AMU. He raised the demand for restitution of the accused, although the arrangements had issued an order to suspend the accused. But the students were not ready to accept.

It was decided early in the morning that the disciplinary committee would give its verdict in three days. After this the strike ended and the gate opened. Police officers kept explaining to the students outside the gate and AMU officers inside the gate. There was also a demand to send the injured student to Delhi.

The accused saved himself by locking himself in the room

Initially, the accused fled from the spot after the incident. But after some time when he reached his room to take his mobile, other students started beating him too. He somehow saved himself by locking himself in the room. From there in the night the police took him into custody with the help of AMU arrangements. In police interrogation, he accepted that Sajid had earlier hit him on the stump.

In this anger, he hit twice with the bat. The first shot missed, he was wounded in the second. On behalf of Shobhit, the proctor’s office has also been given a tahrir of assault with himself.

According to CO III Shwetabh Pandey, a Tahrir regarding the incident was received for assault on Sajid. On which Shobhit has been sent to jail after registering a case. On the other hand, Shobhit’s Tahrir has not yet been received from the Proctor’s office.

Sajid’s treatment is going on in the ICU of JN Medical College. His CT scan was done on Wednesday night.

CT was also done on Thursday and another CT will be done on Friday. The registrar and proctor went to see him in the afternoon. Where he has a light conversation. But now the doctors have put a ban on talking more or getting more. The authorities also considered referring him to Delhi. The doctors denied that they would wait for now.

According to the demand of the students, a five-member disciplinary committee will decide to reinstate the accused in the incident.
