Ankita Bhandari Murder Case: The family of the 19-year-old, who was reportedly killed by the son of a former BJP leader, has finally consented to conduct their daughter’s last rites. They had sought the release of the post-mortem results earlier in the day and had rejected having her cremated. There was a huge protest outside when the father entered the mortuary in Srinagar’s Pauri Garwhal area to pick up his daughter’s remains.
Protestor’s had earlier blocked the highway, and, the father of the girl was called to pacify the crowd. A SIT has also been constituted that will probe the WhatsaApp Chats of the girl. It was earlier reported that Ankita had informed one of her friend about the owner blackmailing.

Earlier in the day, Ankita Bhandari’s family protested the demolition of the resort where she worked as a receptionist. Ankita’s father and brother refused to conduct her funeral rites on Sunday until they received the final autopsy results.
According to the initial post mortem report, the 19-year-old female had drowned and her body showed evidence of injury.
Family had questioned the preliminary report
According to her brother, Ajay Singh Bhandari, the preliminary report is lacking in depth.
The Srinagar-Kedarnath route was also blocked by locals. On Saturday, the body of Ankita Bhandari, a receptionist at the Yamkeshwar Vidhan Sabha’s Ganga Bhojpur resort Vanantra, was retrieved from the Cheela canal. The girl had been reported missing for a couple of days before to her death.
Arya, resort manager Saurabh Bhaskar, and assistant manager Ankit Gupta were detained on Friday after confessing to killing the girl and disposing of her body in Cheela canal.
The CM described the incident as “unfortunate,” and stated that the accused will face the worst punishment.
