Haryana Assembly Election 2024: Haryana Assembly polls being drawn to their last lap, candidates going all out for victory This is the time when the campaigning is at its hottest as the Bharatiya Janata Party along with the Congress party released their election manifestos while deploying star campaigners across the entire state.
Congress Eyes Comeback After a Decade Out of Power
Riding high on the commendable performance in the 2024 general elections, the Congress party is eager and looks to regain power after a decade long stint as an opposition party. The Congress would like to cash in on this momentum and connect with an electorate looking for a change. The BJP, meanwhile, faces the double bind of decade-long incumbency along with growing dissent based on such issues as farmer protests and ex-servicemen and wrestlers. Despite these issues, the BJP is hopeful that factional in-fighting within Congress will siphon off support from its principal opponent.
Anurag Thakur Criticizes Congress’ Record on Armed Forces
At a campaign rally recently in Karnal, BJP MP Anurag Thakur attacked the Congress party’s record, especially over its record in dealing with armed forces personnel. He said “Congress was in power for 10 years, jawans kept demanding bulletproof jackets but Congress didn’t provide them the same. Jawans from Haryana sacrificed their lives but they didn’t do anything. Ex-servicemen kept demanding One Rank One Pension but they didn’t provide it in 10 years.”
Thakur added, “The jawans kept demanding fighter jets, latest arms, snow suits and snow boots but the Congress government didn’t provide them with that. Congress ignored jawans and they kept losing their lives. China transgressed on our land during Congress regime.”
He concluded saying that, “But when BJP came to power, we provided OROP, bulletproof jackets, latest arms, fighter jets…We have strengthened armed forces…” Both parties have geared up and prepared themselves with election time approaching and both are looking forward for pre-polling campaign voter support. The results in Haryana may emerge a powerful effect on the political scenario and so this would be an important battleground for both BJP and Congress.
