During an anti-terrorist operation in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, an encounter took place between security forces and terrorists on Monday. The terrorists opened fire on the search party. An army officer and four other soldiers have been martyred in the encounter. Defense sources gave this information.
Sources said that the operation was launched in a village near Dera Ki Gali in Surankote early this morning after receiving intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists. During this, the hidden terrorists fired heavily on the team engaged in the search operation. Due to which a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and four other jawans were seriously injured. He died of serious injuries.
A Defense Department spokesman said that the encounter with the terrorists was going on till the last report was received. More information is awaited.
Officials said that there were reports of terrorists with heavy weapons crossing the Line of Control and hiding in the forest of Charmer. Additional forces have been sent to the spot, so that all the exit routes of the terrorists can be closed.
Apart from this, there was an encounter between security forces and terrorists in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, in which one terrorist was killed by the army. A police official said that after getting information about the presence of terrorists, the security forces started a cordon and search operation at Khagund in Verinag area of the district.

However, an associate of the terrorists involved in the murder is absconding and has reportedly joined the terrorist group and has been identified as Imtiyaz Ahmed Dar alias Kotru. According to the police, Lone was murdered at the behest and instructions of Lashkar-e-Taiba handler Lala Umar, a resident of Pakistan.
