Arvind Kejriwal: Currently serving a jail sentence in Tihar, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, has sent a message through leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Sanjay Singh. As stated by Sanjay Singh at a news conference, “My name is Arvind Kejriwal and I am not a terrorist.”
Release of Sanjay Singh on Bail
Earlier this month, Sanjay Singh, who had been detained since October of last year in relation to the Delhi excise policy case, was released on bail. Singh expressed worry about Arvind Kejriwal’s treatment in prison, pointing out that he was forced to meet Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwat Mann via a glass despite being Delhi’s three-time elected chief minister.
“The three-time elected CM of Delhi is made to meet Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann through a glass. It is clear from this that the prime minister has a feeling of hatred against Arvind Kejriwal,” Sanjay Singh remarked.
Meeting Restrictions at Tihar Jail
The Tihar Jail administration, according to the former minister of Delhi, is preventing Arvind Kejriwal from personally meeting with his family and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Officials stated, however, that Sunita, Arvind Kejriwal’s wife, and other guests had been visiting with him twice a week. On Monday, Bhagwant Mann did, however, meet Arvind Kejriwal at the Tihar jail.
In a money laundering investigation related to the now-canceled Delhi excise policy case, the enforcement directorate detained the chief minister of Delhi on March 21. He’s still under court custody.
Allegations Against Arvind Kejriwal in Goa Assembly Election Campaign
In the Goa Assembly election campaign, Arvind Kejriwal has been accused by the law enforcement agency of being involved in the “entire conspiracy of Delhi liquor scam, in drafting and implementation of the policy, for favouring and benefiting the quid pro receiving kickbacks and eventually using part of proceeds of crime generated out of the scheduled offence.”
Supreme Court Hearing on Arvind Kejriwal’s Appeal
On Monday, April 15, the Supreme Court considered Arvind Kejriwal’s appeal against his ED arrest in the money laundering case. The Supreme Court did not provide Arvind Kejriwal any temporary respite, but it did send a notice to the enforcement directorate requesting an answer to the Delhi chief minister’s appeal. His court-appointed guardianship has been continued till April 23.
