Assam Floods: Nearly 34000 people were hit and more than 77 villages in the state has been damaged due to the deluge in Assam State. Around 209.67 hectares ground area has been spoilt because of the floods. The situation is getting worse due the continuous rainfall in the state for the last few days. The water level of the Brahmaputra river is flowing above the danger level. The most damaged districts are Darrang, Dhimaji, Dibrugarh, Lakhimpur, Tamulpur, Udalgiri and Bishwanath.

Relief Centers have been set up in Lakhimpur, Udalgiri
The Government has set up Help Centres in Lakhimpur and Udalgiri. Four barriers of the Lakhimpur and Udalgiri area have been badly ruptured. Huge Erosion has been reported from Golaghat, Jorhat, Karbi, Lakhimpur, Morigaon, Nalabri, Soniptpur, Tamalpur and Karbi Anlong West. There are news of mudslides also reported from some parts of the area.
IMD: More Rains expected in Coming days
The Met Department has warned of more rains in the coming days. The Water Resource Minister has given directions to the District administration and Engineers to be ready with all the Preventive measures in case of any emergency. The Met Department has issued an Orange Alert for the next three days and ‘Yellow Alert’ for the coming two days.
