Assembly elections 2023 are scheduled to take place on Monday, October 9, in five states, according to the Election Commission. Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Mizoram are among these states. At midday, the Election Commission held a news conference to release this information.

Mizoram Leads, Chhattisgarh in Two Phases, Results on December 3

According to Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, Mizoram will host the first elections. the vote will take place on November 7th. In Chhattisgarh, elections will take place concurrently in two phases. Where, on November 7th, the first phase will occur. While the second voting round will take place on November 17. In a similar vein, elections will be place in Telangana on November 30, Rajasthan on November 23, and Madhya Pradesh on November 17. The results of the elections in five states will be made public on December 3, according to the Chief Election Commissioner. With the release of voting dates, the Model Code of Conduct became effective.

Over 1.77 Lakh Polling Places, Millions Eligible to Vote

According to the Chief Election Commissioner, there will be 1.77 lakh voting places set up across 679 assembly districts for upcoming elections. On October 17, the election voting list will be made public, and voters will have until October 23 to make changes. He stated that 8.52 lakh people are eligible to vote in Mizoram as a whole. In contrast, there are 3.17 crore voters in Telangana, 2.03 crore voters in Chhattisgarh, 5.25 crore voters in Rajasthan, and 5.6 crore votes in Madhya Pradesh.

Five State Elections Set the Stage for 2024

Let us point out that the five state elections are significant since they will take place just before the Lok Sabha elections in April and May of next year. Congress and the BJP are competing in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan. In Telangana, a three-way race between the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), Congress, and BJP is anticipated.
