Ayodhya Ram Mandir: Temple Trust Gears Up to Pick the Finest Idol Design for Ram Lalla, Voting Today

Ayodhya Ram Mandir

Ayodhya Ram Mandir: According to sources, a vote will be held on Friday to determine which idol of Lord Ram Lalla will be placed inside the grand temple’s sanctum sanctorum the following month. The trust responsible for building and overseeing the magnificent Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, is where the voting is expected to happen.

Diverse Artistry on Display

“All three designs, made by separate sculptors, would be put on the table. The one idol that will get the most votes will be installed at the consecration of the shrine on January 22,” sources said. Earlier on Wednesday, trust secretary Champat Rai announced that one of three designs would be chosen to become a 51-inch-tall idol of Lord Ram, representing a five-year-old Ram Lalla.

On-Site Evaluation by Officials

“The one that has the best divineness and has a childlike look about it will be selected,” he said. Along with the district’s top official, Shri Ram Mandir Construction Committee Chairman Nripendra Misra assessed the state of the construction work that is still being done on the Ram Janmabhoomi Path and the complex on Thursday. The inspection took place just two days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the temple city, which is set for next month.

Temple and Complex Development

Misra said while speaking to ANI that, “The work is not being done hastily, rather it is being done qualitatively by investing enough time into it.” “The construction work has been categorised into three phases. The first phase will be completed by December 2023, the second phase, when the construction of the temple will be completed, will be carried out in January and the third phase includes the construction work in the complex,” he added.

Security and Welcome Preparations

Misra further directed the officials to finish installing the security equipment, “welcome gate,” and canopy on Janmabhoomi Path by December, no matter what. The consecration ceremony is scheduled to take place over seven days beginning on January 16, according to temple officials. The atonement ceremony will be conducted on January 16 by Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra, the host designated by the temple trust. There will be worship of Vishnu, the ‘Dashvidh’ bath, and cow offerings on the banks of the Saryu River.

Ram Lalla’s Procession to Ayodhya

After that, a procession carrying the idol of Lord Ram in his infant form, known as Ram Lalla, is scheduled to arrive in Ayodhya on January 17. In Mangal Kalash, devotees carrying Saryu water will arrive at the Ram Janmabhoomi temple. Formal ceremonies will begin with the Ganesh Ambika, Varun, Matrika, Brahmin Varan, and Vastu pujas on January 18. ‘Navagraha’ and a ‘havan’ (holy ritual around the fire) will be established on January 19, after which the holy fire will be lit.

Vaastu Shanti and ‘Annadhivas’ Ceremonies

On January 20, the Vaastu Shanti and ‘Annadhivas’ rituals will be performed after the sanctum sanctorum of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple has been cleansed with Saryu water. The idol of Ram Lalla will be finally buried on January 21 after being bathed in 125 urns. On the last day, January 22, the deity of Ram Lala will be consecrated in ‘Mrigashira Nakshatra’ in the afternoon following the morning puja.
