Bhima Koregaon Case: No bail to Gautam Navlakha

The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the investigating agency NIA on the bail application of Gautam Navlakha, accused in Bhima Koregaon case. Now the matter will be heard on 15 March. The Bombay High Court denied bail to accused Gautam Navlakha. Navlakha challenged this decision in the Supreme Court.

The Bombay High Court had rejected the bail plea of ​​Gautam Navlakha, an accused in the Elgar Parishad case involving Maoists, stating that he saw no reason to interfere in the logical order of the special court. The special court had already rejected the bail plea of ​​Gautam Navlakha. The court said that in 2018, 34 days spent under house arrest cannot be counted for statutory bail.

According to the police, some activists allegedly gave provocative and provocative speeches at the Elgar Parishad meeting in Pune on December 31, 2017, leading to violence in Koregaon Bhima in the district the next day. The police alleged that the program was supported by some Maoist organizations. The National Investigation Agency is investigating this case. Navlakha challenged the order of the special NIA court in the High Court. His application for statutory bail was rejected by the special NIA court on 12 July 2020.
