53 people died in Bihar’s Saran district as a result of consuming spurious liquor
This comes as 53 people died in Bihar’s Saran district as a result of consuming spurious liquor. Earlier, BJP leaders demanded Nitish Kumar’s resignation after he said, “Jo piyega woh marega” (those who drink spurious alcohol will die).
On Thursday, several BJP MLAs demonstrated in the state Assembly over the hooch deaths, holding banners and raising slogans against the government. The BJP lashed out at Nitish Kumar on the second day of protests, causing a commotion inside the assembly for the second day in a row over the Saran hooch tragedy.
BJP leaders to meet Governor Paghu Chauhan
On Friday, a delegation of BJP leaders will also meet with Governor Paghu Chauhan.
Meanwhile, as a political brawl erupted in the state over the Chhapra incident, four people were killed in Bihar’s Siwan after allegedly consuming spurious liquor. It is possible that the death toll will rise.
The Nitish Kumar government banned the sale and consumption of alcohol in Bihar in April 2016.
